Press Release for Proposed New Truck

New Baltimore Fire District to Replace 1990 Pumper
The New Baltimore Fire District approved at the January meeting to advertise for bids for a new 2000GPM/2500GAL Pumper/Tanker. The new truck will replace a 1990 aging vehicle that is beyond its expect use.
The New Baltimore Fire District is currently in a 25 year replacement program to keep up with NFPA, OSHA and safety regulations.  ETA 205 is a 1990 1500GPM pumper with a 1,000gal tank on an E-One chassis with an E-One body for the purpose of fighting fires. This vehicle is now 24 years old and does not meet new standards for NFPA or ISO. This 1990 vehicle has surpassed its projected lifespan and should be replaced. The new custom pumper tanker will have a 2000GPM pump with a 2500gallon water tank and will be made of aluminum. The design for the replacement changes the truck from a pumper to tanker carrying over double the water for initial fire attack. The decision for the pumper tanker was based on many aspects including no town water, manpower status, and the safety of the community and firefighters.
The total projected cost for the replacement of the vehicle and equipment will not exceed $695,000.00 of which $230,000.00 will come from the Fire District reserve account and the balance to be bonded for a period not to exceed 10 years.
There will be no tax increase to the tax payers for this purchase.
The Board of Fire Commissioners will schedule a vote on the purchase and bonding in mid February. Information updates will be on the website www.newbaltimorefire.com

2013 Scholarship Winners
Sunday, June 9, 2013
Each year our Auxiliary offers a scholarship to Seniors in the Coxsackie-Athens & RCS school districts who live in our fire district and/or are a member of our organization. The students are asked to write an essay
about their involvement in community service and how it effects their lives.

This year, we did not have any submissions from CA that lived in our fire district.  The committee then chose to award 2 scholarships to students from RCS. Both of whom showed great pride in helping their communities through various projects and organizations, including our fire company.

Congratulations to to our 2013 scholarship recipients Peyton VanAlstyne & Olivia Vosburgh!
